2 large bus companies in Brazil now accept Bitcoin
Two Brazilian bus companies, Viação Garcia and Brasil Sul, that are part of the GSB group have just became the first passenger transport companies in Brazil to accept cryptocurrency as a payment method.
The group initially opted to only use Bitcoin, but plans to add Litecoin by July.
“Many economic and commercial operations are migrating to the digital world, and the segment of road passenger transport is no different“ says GSB Group vice president Estefano Boiko Junior.
These transportation companies offer trips among cities as well as private trips for schools, clubs, companies and excursions.
The new payment method is available through the bus companies website, via online reservation only, and the ticket will be sent to the customer’s email as payment confirmation.
500 000 people in Switzerland voted for a Bitcoin like financial system
A campaign to radically shift Switzerland’s financial industry into something resembling Bitcoin’s economic system lost spectacularly yesterday — it managed to win almost 500,000 votes, around 25% of those polled.
The controversial plan — known as the Sovereign Money Initiative — would have seen commercial banks barred from electronically creating money when they lend beyond their deposits.
“Cryptocurrency and the blockchain does look like where we’re heading. It could have been used under the system we were proposing,” said Emma Dawnay, board member of MoMo, the group which proposed the Sovereign Money Initiative.
