A violent confrontation between youth groups in Nsawam Adoagyiri, Eastern Region, has left two people dead and several others injured. The incident, which began on May 20, 2025, escalated into a full-blown crisis, prompting police intervention to restore order.

The Initial Incident

According to reports, the conflict started with a shooting in Adoagyiri, resulting in the death of one individual and injuries to another. The motive behind the attack remains unclear, but tensions between rival groups had reportedly been brewing for some time.

Following the shooting, approximately 300 youths mobilized for a reprisal attack, blocking roads, burning tyres, and vandalizing shops and vehicles. The chaos led to further injuries, with three individuals rushed to the hospital for medical attention. One of the victims, identified as Isaah Masawudu, later succumbed to his injuries, further inflaming tensions.

Police Intervention and Arrests

In response to the escalating violence, a reinforcement team from the National Police Headquarters and the National Formed Police Unit was deployed to the area. Their swift action helped restore calm, but authorities continue to investigate the incident and are working to apprehend those responsible.
