This is a video to clear up some of the confusion related to understanding the use case of a coin vs token. A coin functions as a currency a token has a wider use case built on a coins developer platform or code. The idea that a token like Tron being listed on Coinbase is probably not realistic as it does not function as a currency but as a wider use case built on the Ethereum blockchain.

In this video I also touched on etherscan and myetherwallet and looking up erc20 tokens.

  1. Great info! Can you please make more videos like this explaining details of “how” things work, like Smart Contracts etc… Thank you in advance!

  2. Once again Jeff you and the Altcoin Buzz crew have made a video on a topic that I just thought about looking into. Thanks!

  3. Whoops I mispoke in this video. I called Myetherwallet, MyetherDelta LOL. Hopefully most of you knew what i meant to say, but in case you did not. Ether Delta is an exchange, myetherwallet is a paperwallet storage. Both only for ERC20 tokens.

  4. When would people sell ETN, it has huge potential but when will you sell it?? It around $0.1 atm how high can it go?

  5. You’re a wealth of knowledge sir. Thank you for all the research you’ve done. Keep up the great informative work.

  6. You should set a goal for yourself: how much do you want ETN to make you. Then just hold until that’s achieved. I strongly believe that we can see ETN hit $10 by the end of 2018 or during 2019. More is also possible. Remember, they’re doing something that has never been done before!

  7. Jeff, I really like these educational videos that your channel has been doing lately. The community needs more of these, because I’m thinking that there are lots of community members who just buy coins/tokens without knowing what’s really happening and what they’re really buying. More of these videos please! 🙂

  8. OmiseGo has a good chance of getting listed on Coinbase. Steem and Ripple are centralized

  9. Yo jeff, I got my ether wallet but I’m confused why I don’t have to put my password in to login, just my private key? I don’t get it and it’s making me paranoid about keeping my tokens on there?

  10. Like what is the password even for? Or have I done something wrong? I just feel more comfortable keeping them on an exchange atm even though I know that is wrong

  11. Well said Jeff. There are some people saying these things to pump the coins (or token in this case)..

  12. After watching this video, I still don’t have any better understanding between a coin and a token. I guess if you explain what the differences are between what you can and cannot do between coins and token I might have a better understanding but it sounded like you could buy sell transfer coins and tokens all the same.

Any deeper explanation would be much appreciated. Thanks for the video.

  13. Ethereum , for me and many others, is not a true digital currency and will hopefully never be the top marketplace coin. If Bitcoin ever gets dethroned, I would much prefer to see something like Litecoin or another true digital currency on top of the board. Ethereum is obviously the most successful developer platform but not even close to being the best for real digital transactions.

  14. Many tokens have a main net in their roadmap. I think Tron has a date that they will move to their main net.
