Carrefour is implementing Blockchain technology to help its customers know more about the products they are purchasing.
Carrefour is one of Europe’s most prolific retailers, operating in several countries. The company states they will be able to track the origins of the food offered at the stores. The first product that will be tracked will be chicken.
With just a smartphone, you will be able to scan the QR code of the product and know nearly everything about the product you have bought.
At the moment, chicken is the only product available, but other products will be able to be tracked in the future, like eggs, cheese, milk and other vegetables.
In a press release Carrefore stated:
“The launch of Blockchain technology marks an important milestone… An innovative system designed guarantee consumers complete product traceability.”
