American Congressman: Mining should be taxed

Representative of the Democratic Party of the United States Ro Khanna proposes to impose a tax on the mining of cryptocurrencies.

Representative of the Democratic Party of the United States Ro Khanna believes that the mining of cryptocurrencies must be taxed. Since mining in the future creates certain environmental problems, the congressman proposes to compensate for this damage.

If carbon emissions are taxed, then why not do the same with mining cryptocurrencies? Mining bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies require significant energy costs. The authorities of many countries have already begun to worry about the increase in the amount of electricity consumed, and environmentalists are predicting serious trouble. Here is what american Congressman thinks about this:

A tax can be imposed on used capacities, or a tax on the operation of farms producing bitcoins – since they affect the environment, they must pay for it.

In general, the congressman advocates control over all aspects of the cryptocurrency trade, including for the active fight against fraud. Khanna also believes that cryptocurrency transactions are important to monitor, in order to combat terrorism.
